Conduct collaborative re搜索 with your professors. Work with local environmental organizations. Help run an on-campus farm. Explore caves in the American southeast, dive to re搜索 corals in Honduras or examine the geology in Iceland.
Environmental Science 教师
Dr. 扎伽利。泰勒 is the 2019 recipient of the Coosa River Basin Initiative’s Educational Partner Award. Dr. Taylor teaches an environmental science capstone course that has an Academic Community Engagement component which involves partnering with an organization in the community. The last several classes have worked with Coosa River Basin Initiative on several projects. This award is given as part of the annual Riverkeeper Awards to honor community members that have done good work to clean water in the previous year. Dr. Taylor will be presented with the award at a ceremony in March. The Coosa River Basin Initiative is a grassroots environmental organization with the mission to protect, preserve and restore one of North America’s most biologically diverse river systems, the upper Coosa River Basin.

Explore such topics as the nature of spatial data, 制图学, GIS数据模型, spatial analysis, basic spatial modeling and global positioning systems.
Humans are now causing rapid changes to the biological, climatological and geological systems on which we depend, leading to the identification of a new period in Earth’s history: the Anthropocene. This course will investigate the causes of these global changes and examine the impacts on society’s future.
Investigate key questions in the field through readings and discussions. Gain real-world experience working on interdisciplinary projects that address environmental challenges at the local level.
Environmental Science 生活
Junior environmental studies major 罗斯科比 started working at Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful (KRFB) — housed in the Rome E.C.O. Center — during his freshman year at Berry as part of his role as a Bonner scholar. Through this scholarship program, Ross commits 140 hours of community service each semester, averaging about 10 hours of work. Once Ross began working for KRFB, he found that his service hours would not only benefit the community but also kick-start his career interest in social ecology.
